    加里·艾伦 (Gary Allan)，一位曾被People和Country Weekly评为“乡村音乐界最性感的明星”的歌手。
　　1999年，美国乡村音乐人艾伦 发行经典力作“Smoke rings in the dark”《黑暗中的烟圈》，凭借一幅略带沙哑又饱含深情的忧伤嗓音，“烟圈”自此奠定了艾伦 稳固的乐坛地位。
　　这个桔镇出生，加州成长的歌手从小便显示出过人的音乐天赋——12岁和父亲及哥哥在酒吧靠表演谋生，14岁自己创作歌曲，15岁成为唱片公司的签约歌手。多年来，艾伦 凭借在各张专辑中日渐成熟的演绎，缔造了多首排行榜上的冠军单曲，包括“It would be you”（1998年专辑《It would be you》）、“Man to man”（2001年专辑《Alright guy》）、“tough little boys”（2003年专辑《See if I care》）。
　　艾伦 一直被认为是乡村音乐重镇Nashville（纳什维尔）的一张王牌。1999年，“烟圈” 一经推出，艾伦 随即获得“最性感乡村歌手”奖。2003年，处于事业顶峰的艾伦 又获CMA（乡村音乐学会）表彰的Horizon（“水平线奖”）。
　　2004年，妻子突然自杀给加里·艾伦带来了巨大打击。为求在音乐中藉慰伤痛，加里·艾伦发行第六张专辑《Tough all over》，其中，有四首曲子是艾伦 为亡妻而作。该专辑可以说是艾伦 最个人化情感的完全体现，很喜欢专辑中的一首翻唱曲目“Best I ever had”，系美国新生代另类摇滚乐团“Vertical horizon”于2001年缔造的排行抒情佳作。
　　这首歌也许可以被称为是“纯男人型”歌曲，或者，更精确一点，“成熟男人的伤逝情歌”，因为只有历经沧桑的男人才能将一段刻骨深情如此这样娓娓道来。
    “烟圈” 的忧伤极具杀伤力，这个落寞的歌名的意境都在明与暗，虚与实，动与静的对比中表现内心的挣扎和无力。听听这首被称为“成熟男人的伤逝情歌”吧！当沙哑的歌声如烟圈般环绕你的时候，那种来自沧桑与忧伤冲击无人能挡！
