Part One

这一日，陆游的一首诗：“芳兰移取遍中林，余地何妨种玉簪，更乞两丛香百合，老翁七十尚童心” 。由然北窗思起那株超凡脱俗、矜持含蓄的百合。

Once upon the time, the famous Chinese poet LU You has made the poem: "The fragrant orchids have been planted everywhere on the hill, maybe some hosta plantaginea can be planted in the rest place. But I prefer to have several sweet lilies. I’m seventy years old but I still have the childlike innocence." Naturally, I start to think about that transcendent, subtle and modest lily on the north windowsill. 

山野早莺新燕，有呢喃的清脆明丽，不必用心地沉迷于一页页泛黄的诗书，不用去远足，只需放缓步子，放下尘世，放开名利，穿一件松松垮垮的衬衫，眉目明媚地去看花开。

In the spring, orioles sing and swallows dart, the birds’ twittering is crisp and attractive. People don’t have to get indulged in the yellowed pages of the old poetry and literature books, nor get into the excursion. They just need to slow down their pace, forget the daily life, stop hunting after fame and fortune, and wear a baggy blouse to admire the beauty of the blossom with a happy mood.

Mr. Weiming LI has already prepared for you a beautiful love story with lilies presented by his oil paintings. 

百合，该就是情深的故事。情深，开一次？缘浅，就败一回？人间四月天里，百合花会开。深秋11月，百合花会再来。不知道，花为谁开？

Lily itself should be an affectionate story. If it falls in love deeply, will it flower for someone just once? If love is fated to part, will the blooms fade just once? In April, lily will open. In the late autumn of November, lily will flower again. But who knows, for whom the lily will bloom? 

花开是一梦，花谢也是一个梦，花会开了谢了再开再谢，梦里再如何繁华落尽，自拾苍凉，毕竟还是花有重开日，人，却再无少年时！

Each blossom is a dream, and each flower fades for a dream too. The flowers will bloom then fade away. No matter how fancy a dream is, a sense of desolation will follow after. After all, beautiful flowers can bloom again, but only once people can live young. 

也许，百合在这个时候，是迎风而泪的吧。泪过处，故事，仍然流传在天涯。 

Perhaps, at this time, lily is weeping in the wind. But when the tears are dried, the history of lily will spread still. 

是以，每一次生命的轮回，都是一个花开花谢的过程，观画的过程，不过就是清晰地看到自己曾经留在了某一个小节里依然是有些明媚的伤口。此时的风似乎是与人不相识的，吹在脸上如对客人般温和，大气厚重的百合，收集着前朝旅人的脚步声，不诉悲喜，忽远忽近，忽近忽远。
 

Therefore, every cycle of life is like the circle of flowers: to bloom and to fade. The process of appreciating a painting is nothing but a reunion with the dull pain hiding in some tiny fraction of life. At this point, the wind become a perfect stranger, it blows in people’s faces softly but with an obvious sense of distance. Lily, so proud and dignified, collects the former travelers’ footsteps, from far and near, with no complaints, sorrows nor joys. 

“尔丛香百合，一架粉长春。堪笑龟堂老，欢然不记贫。”百合，这种植物的名字，一听着，就是满心地欢喜。

" This bouquet of fragrant lilies have a very long florescence, the pink color of flowers has crawled all over the flower stand. How interesting is it that an old man like me becomes so happy and forgets completely his actual poor situation. " Lily, name of a plant, is lovely and full of joys.

在西方，有一些浪漫色彩的记载，《圣经》里百合花是由夏娃的眼泪所变成，为纯洁的礼物，是纯洁清新之意的代表。

In the West, there are some romantic records about lily. In the Bible, lily is said to be made of tears of Eve, it is a pure gift and a symbol of purity.

在东方，百合象征国家民族独立和经济繁荣，立于国家与经济的宏观角度；微观里百合百合百年好合，已经是深深祝福的寓意，百合仙子是多么的纯洁，百合百子合力治国的智慧与团结的凝聚。最基本的爱，也是最伟大的爱，含意很全部。

In the East, lily symbolizes the independence and the economic prosperity of a Nation. This point of view is based on the macro perspective of a state and its economy. From a point of view microscopic, lily symbolizes the best wish for a happy marriage; besides, lily is like a fairy who is so pure and so innocent; lastly, the word of lily might be the abbreviation of “working together of hundreds of men”, it can represent the cohesion and the wisdom of running a country. This is the fundamental love, and the greatest love too. This love contains lots of meanings.

东方与西方，各自的美。

The East and the West have their own sense of beauty. 

据《本草经疏》中记载：百合得土金之气，而兼天之清和，故味甘平，亦应微寒无毒。五行命理里玩的是入手太阳、阳明，亦可以入手少阴，同具阴阳倒是别的花卉品种少有。 

According to Ben Cao Jing Shu: Lily gets the spiritual quality of clay and gold and absorbs the peace and harmony of the universe, so it tastes sweet and flat, and it should be micro-cold and non-toxic. In Chinese numerology, lily has the greater Yang and Yang, but at the same time, it has the lesser Yin. This kind of combination is really rare in the flowers varieties. 

百合，用于情事上，总有一层红鸾星动！百合却有小毒，花白者入药，中寒者勿服。中寒就已经不能服用了，如果是大寒体质者呢？所以，百合不但秀丽诱人，它的蕴含香味，“夜深香满屋，疑是酒醒时”，大概就是一种极深的诱惑。如此特性，美好中却带着毒性，是让人成瘾的样子。

Lily indicates a love affair too! Lily is micro-poisonous, but its petals can be used as medicine. According to Physique Type of Traditional Chinese Medicine, those have a medium-level cold physique constitution should not take lily as nutrition, not to mention those who have a high-level cold physique constitution. Lily is delicate and pretty, and it smells good, “late at night, the room is full of a pleasant fragrance, it makes wonder if it’s the time to sober up.” Maybe, lily itself is irresistibly seductive. It’s pretty but poisonous and addictive.

窗外阳光温润，百合相拥，是那山高水长的念，是花间的心事，又或者是一场浅淡的温暖，流连着意念中的一场凊欢。百合婉转牵绊，没有车马人声喧嚣、没有红尘纷扰的烦忧、散开世间所有的牵绊、卸掉红尘浓妆、在水气氤氲的楼阁山水间，一大园子百合从生，是沉默也是沦陷。

Outside the window, the sun is soft and warm. Lilies embrace together, they have the deepest longings and their own little secrets. Or they are just drowned into the slight warmth and hang around with the idea of a chilly joy. Lily is tactful and thoughtful. In this garden, there are not noises of the city, nor the troubles of the world. All the worries have gone and the masque of life has been taken off. Wondering in the dense mist and between the buildings and the nature, we find out that the blossoms of lilies indicate not only the silence but also the falling down. 

终有一日，时光纵横交错的庭院，耳边是潺潺的声，心中是世事通透的安然，赏花共蝶，花间缱绻。自也要学得不管百合几度，自顾自驿外修篱，何须执着！生活也不过就是恬淡悲喜，什么前尘，什么过往，这红尘烟雨，也不过静待了百合开尽，无关冷热的自在。

Finally one day, time crisscrossing the courtyard, the heart will rest in peace with a thorough understanding of life: only the soft gurgling sound can be heard and only the beautiful flowers and dancing butterflies can be seen. People should learn from the lily that no matter how things change, just go one’s own way, and there is no need to cling to the past or one single thing. Life is simply made of sorrows and joys, so the past time and the troubling world are just waiting for the easy moment in the end, just like waiting for a lily to bloom and to fade away indifferently. 

但凡是美好的东西，大致都是有几份毒与瘾，黎伟明先生的百合情缘，一如人世里的烟酒情痴，都是戒不掉的喜欢。

Most of the good things in the world are normally micro-poisonous and addictive. The love of Mr. Weiming LI for his lily is an affection obsessive that cannot be given up, same as people’s the addiction to the alcohol and to the tobacco.
