Merry Christmas!

In Iowa's winter, there is a great difference in temperatures between indoor and outdoor. When you walk into a room, it is like microwave heating. When you are leaving for outdoor, you feel like quick-frozen dumplings. There is almost no middle ground for transition.  Just after putting on coat I started to feel very hot. I hurried down the stairs to the bitter cold wind outside. Most leaves have been blown away by the strong wind of the (Nov. 11) Singles Day, perhaps?  Trees have shed their golden autumn clothes, left their bare branches in the open. Well, I came here just in time, to capture this scenery, the most beautiful autumn in my camera，before the wind comes. The pictures make me ecstatic and also give my friends the pleasure.

The bare trunks，and the crossing branches are also another kind of scenery, isn't it ? Bare naked trees, who says the tree can't have its own behavioral arts?  Ha ha!

I held tight my scarf, thinking about adding clothes. Right now the Star City, my hometown, should be in the autumn, and it is still far away from cold. The cold time in the Star City is around January. The lowest temperature there is just a few degrees below zero (Celsius). People rarely see snow. But when it comes， it brings wind and rain，so people feel extremely cold.

Sitting in the church for my English class, I caught a glimpse of the window, snowing all over from the sky. The ground was covered by a thin layer of snow like fine salt. A few days ago when I just came here large snow flakes fell like feathers but no snow on the ground. I couldn't help saying "Look! It's snowing outside!"  All people looked outside the window together.  Jo Eelln said excitingly:  " Winter comes here now!" I thought of Shelley's poems and could not help myself“If winter comes, can spring be far behind? ”Jo Eelln joked, Oh, no! This poem of Shelley is not suitable for Iowa! Iowa's winter is very, very long! You may not be sure how long it will be.  It starts in November, and may end with a snow storm in May next year, Ha ha.

One day we were chatting in the living room of Jo Eleen's home, the snow was falling outside. Jo Eleen sat on the floor, and we sat on the sofa. The fireplace is shining with red flames. The flame is very exquisite. I didn't know if this flame was real or fake, because the European style decorative fireplaces in China are electric, with very delicate flames but no heat. I felt very warm when I walked towards the fireplace to take pictures. I saw beautiful flames, with real charcoal burning.  But how could it burns so clean?  I thought it for a long time until my daughter told me, that was a real electric stove, ha ha. Jo Eleen also made delicious chocolate dessert and coffee tea for us. Jo Eleen has a party like this every week, paying with her own money.

Jo Eleen shared several family album with us. One of them was her own wedding album, preserved very well. Jo Eleen looked just like the bride a few decades ago like almost nothing changed! I meant her state of mind !She told us she was already sixty-three. Oh, very few people at her age can be as happy and healthy as her.
