I am what I am

个人日记

I am what I am and I am a college English teacher who can get on well with young men and young women always at the age of early twenties though I can occassionally find one or two white hair among the black. I was eager to be a teacher at their age and with the blink of eyes, I have been standing on the teaching stage for many years without fully realizing the achievements I dreamed at their age.

I am what I am with more roles to play in life as time flies by. I was born and brought up as the timid girl who did not dare to talk with strangers. I was protected by my most kind and considerate mom though she cannot read her own name and did not think it was useful to receive  education. I have my dad who liked reading and writing, singing and dancing despite his status as an ordinary farmer in those days and sticked to the idea that education was the only way to change one’s fate. Thanks to my mother I grow physically strong. Thanks to my father’s persistence I become what I am. I can feel him everywhere and everyday though he has been in heaven for 15 years.

I am what I am, a kind and responsible teacher to many students, the wife of an industrious and warm-hearted man, the mom of a cute and bright girl, a helpful and active friend for those around, a useful member of the community. I am what I am and these are just the roles I play on my life stage.

I am what I am and I am strong in body and mind who can communicate well with nature and people around so that I am full of energy and sunshine and live every day faithfully, knowing every day consists of day light and night darkness. However, the darker the sky is, the brighter the twinkling stars are.

I am what I am and I once complained a lot for unfairness. Then I hear the song named “Trouble Is A Friend” after the experience of a lot of life. Then I realize it is the sufferings and hardships that forced me to be self-dependent and self-confident and moved me forward bravely in life jungle. I learn to stand firmly no matter how strong the wind blows. I stop arguing “why me?” but meditate on what I did and regulate my direction to bright and happy presence of present time. Because yesterday has passed and tomorrow is yet to come and only now, the present time does belong to myself. If I care for present carefully, tomorrow will care for itself better. I am what I am and I have a better understanding of what life is and who I am. I cherish life dearly and enjoy present happines without worrying about unpredictability and shortness of life mystery.

I am what I am and I am full of gratitude to all that I know and all who care about me. I am grateful to all that I have already seen and heard.  My heart is full of love for my motherland—unique China, her mountains and rivers. When I reached America, the boundless green forests here, the overwhelming wonder of the Niagra Falls bolster my heart up. The fabulous scenery and the crystal clean water in the Thousand Islands calms me down. The great lectures given by the experienced professors of the Bridgewater State University inspire my heart with lofty ideals of working out what I am and what I will be.

I am what I am, playing different roles independently and eagerly savoring every drop of life to its richest sweetness.
